McBride Library Trustee Honoured with BCLTA Award
We are proud to announce that one of our Library Trustees, Tony Rykes, was in 2023 selected for a BC Trustee Association Excellence Award for his outstanding contribution to the McBride & District Public Library.
Tony has sat on the Board of Trustees for several years, and volunteered innumerable hours for us – most recently, on the library garden project (more on that below), but also in our 2018 move to our new premises on Main Street, when Tony was pivotal in transforming the empty shell of a building into a functional – and beautiful – library and community hub.
In 2022, we developed an empty plot of land adjacent to the library into a community park space: Tony stained and painted wood, built fences, constructed a gazebo, laid lawn turf and took care of the new garden over the hot summer months.
We are delighted that the BCLTA chose to honour Tony’s hard work and dedication with this award.
