Make a Financial Donation
The McBride Library is funded by your taxes, through annual grants from the Regional District and the Ministry of Education, and special program grants. Your financial donation enables us to go further, to purchase new resources, offer more programs, and broaden our services to best meet our community’s needs.
The Library is a registered charity and will give an income tax receipt for all donations over $20. We do not issue tax receipts for the donation of library materials.
Right now we are focused on raising funds for a new library and museum building. To learn more about our expansion plans, click here. The Library accepts donations for expansion on behalf of both the Library and Museum, as we are able to issue income tax receipts. The funds are kept in a reserve account.
You can donate in person, by visiting us at 241 Dominion Street, by mail, or online. Please make your cheque payable to The McBride & District Public Library. Our mailing address is PO Box 489, McBride, B.C. V0J 2E0.
We appreciate the donation of books and other library materials. Our librarians will consider adding each donation to the Library’s own collection. If we don’t add it to our shelves, we will offer the materials for sale by donation. The funds raised from our used book sales help us continue to offer excellent reading material and deliver our core programs.
You can browse the shelves whenever the Library is open.
We do not accept for deposit materials which are not outright gifts. We also do not issue tax receipts for the donation of library materials.
Take Part in a Fundraiser
Since planning for our expansion, the Library and Museum have hosted several fundraising events each year. Annual events include our perennial plant sale (late spring), apple pie sales (mid-Fall), and we’ve held the Fall Harvest Dinner in October since 2013. These events would not be possible without the generous donation of supplies and hours of hard (but fun) work of our many dedicated volunteers.
